William Hudson Walton (Bill)

William Hudson Walton “Bill”, age 82 of Pelham, GA went to be with His heavenly father on Father’s Day, June 18, 2023.  Bill was born on December 27, 1940 to John and Avalou Walton in Burlington, KY.  After graduating from Boone County High School in 1958, he went on to study agriculture at the University of Kentucky, where he “minored in ping-pong”.  In 1968 Bill married Marsha Hinson and they had 3 children. In 1976, he and Marsha moved to Pelham, GA in order to grow soybeans which quickly turned into oats and cattle as well.  He and Marsha joined First Baptist Church where Bill served as a deacon, played church league sports, and enjoyed working in the preschool department.  He was an active member of Civitan International, the National Cattleman’s Association, and served as a board member of Spruce Creek Development in Tiger, GA.  Bill did not believe in slowing down and continued to farm throughout his life.  He loved Kentucky Basketball, exploring land properties, playing ping-pong with his grandchildren, and drinking chocolate milkshakes.  Bill was preceded in death by his parents, John and Avalou Walton.  He is survived by his loving wife, Marsha, his brother John Walton, Jr., his brother-in-law, David Hinson, his three children, Stephen (Laurie) Walton, Joanne (Brian) Allensworth, and Katie (JT) Thompson, and his nine grandchildren: Andrew Allensworth (22), Abby Allensworth (20), Mary Katherine Walton (20), Lily Walton(17), Hudson Thompson(12), Charlotte Walton(12), Lucy Thompson (10), Adalynn Thompson(7), and Lottie Thompson(4), and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation with the family will be held at First Baptist Church, Pelham on Friday, June 23, 2023 from 6-8pm.  A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 11am.  Memorial donations can be made to Camp Crosspoint, which Bill loved and supported consistently.
