Walter Eddie Hayes

Services for Walter Eddie Hayes, 69, of Pelham will be Wednesday, July 13, 2022 at 4:00PM at Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home. Rev. Charles McCardle will officiate. Born October 3, 1952 in Camilla he was the son of the Walter Ernest and Sybil Spence Hayes. Mr. Hayes passed away Saturday, July 9, 2022 at his residence. He was a retired Boiler Turbine Operator for Georgia Power at Plant Mitchell and attended Poulan Freewill Baptist Church. Eddie cherished family, was a loyal friend and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, tending to his cows, barbequing and watching the Braves.  He was married for 40 years to Connie Hall Hayes of Pelham who survives. Other survivors include his daughters, Melissa Laughon (Tom) of Richmond , VA; Casey Darley (Clay) of Thomasville; two grandsons, Jackson Rackley and Chase Darley, one granddaughter Hollyn Darley, all of Thomasville; and two sisters, Marianne Gordon of Lawrenceville and Nancy J. Hayes of Valdosta. Donations may be made to Poulan Freewill Baptist Church, 737 Morey Road, Albany, GA  31705. The family will receive friends from 3:00-4:00PM at the funeral home.
