Roy Thomas Hickey, 68, of Pelham passed away Friday, May 22, 2020 at his residence. Born November 12, 1951 in Camilla he was the son of the late Luther Judson Hickey. Jr. and Geraldine Davis Hickey who survives. He was a retired Welder and member of Meigs Baptist Church.Roy graduated from Cairo H.S. in 1969 where soon after he started his career as a welder which continued for well over 45 yrs. He also enjoyed the "farming life" and working on their farm always growing an oversized garden, canning his vegetables and watching the crops grow whether it be cotton or peanuts. When he wasn't working his greatest passion was fishing which he could do for hours on end. He was a patient fishing partner who never complained about baiting a hook, removing a fish or untangling a fishing line for his wife who enjoyed accompanying him on his many pond fishing trips. Roy also enjoyed working on the homestead and spending time together with his loving wife of 18 years. He enjoyed spending fun quality time with his extended family when on vacations. Roy's face lit up and enjoyed talking about the new loves of his life, his 3 little great nieces and absolutely loved being a great uncle. A celebration of Roy's life may be celebrated at a later date when it is safe to gather.
He was married for 18 years to Judith Conger Hickey of Pelham who survives. Other survivors include sons, Jason Hickey and Kyle Hickey and a daughter, Brandi Russ, nieces, nephews and three adorable great nieces all in NJ whom he adored, two brother-in-laws, Gary Conger (Ginny) and Jeff Conger ( Kathy), a brother Joe Hickey (Anne), and mother-in-law, Marjorie Conger.
