Robert Edward Petty

Funeral services for Robert Edward Petty, 78 of Pelham will be held Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home in Pelham.   Interment will be at Cobb Suncrest Cemetery, Moultrie, GA. Rev. Jason Sellars and Rev. Warren Humphries will officiate. Pallbearers will be Mikie Newsome, Cotton Newsome, Sky Seymour, Jordan Newsome, Kyle Findley and Dustin Lee. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chris Rackley, Alvin Shirah, Brayden Petty, Lawson Rackley, Anthony Petty and Keith Greene. Born April 3, 1939, in Atlanta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Nathan Petty and Edna Brown Petty.  Mr. Petty passed away Sunday, July 9, 2017, at Mitchell County Hospital in Camilla. Mr. Petty was member of Calvary Worship Center, Pelham.  He retired as a truck driver from Nankin Trucking. He is survived by his wife, Peggy Sweat Petty of Pelham; daughters Alicia Greene (Keith)of La Vergne,TN, Melanie Newsome (Mike) of Pelham; sons Robert Petty, Jr. (Abbie) of Brighton, CO, Phillip Barner (Trace) of Pelham; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren and a sister Nora Sapp. He was preceded in death by his parents Nathan Petty and Edna Brown Petty; brothers Ted Petty, Nathan Petty, Donald Wayne Petty, Charles Petty, David Petty; sisters Elizabeth Stewart and Kathy Leavy. The family will receive friends at Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Tuesday July 11, 2017 and Wednesday July 12, 2017.
