Peggy Sweat Petty

Peggy Sweat Petty, 82, of Pelham passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 at her residence. Funeral services will be Sunday, March 5, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Willis Jamerson Braswell Chapel.  Rev. Warren Humphries and Rev. Mike Newsome will officiate with interment to follow at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens, Moultrie, GA.  Pallbearers will be Lawson Rackley, Brayden Petty, Mikie Newsome, Cotton Newsome, Dustin Lee and Sky Seymore.  Honorary pallbearers will be Alvin Shirah, Chris Rackley and Keith Green.  Born April 7, 1940 in Bethlehem, GA, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Francis and Mary LaRuth Peppers Sweat.  She was a member of Freedom Worship Ministries and worked as a waitress with Waffle House for twenty five years.  She is survived by two sons, Phillip Barner (Trace) of Pelham, Robert Perry, Jr. (Abby) of Brighton, CO, and two daughters, Melanie Newsome (Mike) of Pelham, Alicia Greene (Keith) of LaVergne, TN, nineteen grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, one sister, Barbara Sweat of McDonough, GA, and one brother Doug Sweat of Douglasville, GA.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert Petty, Sr., four sisters and three brothers.  Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home.
