Funeral services for Peggy Lois Eaton Gilliard, 76, will be Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at 11:00AM at Union Hill Primitive Baptist Church. Rev. Marvin Snipes, Elder Walter Todd and Elder Jerry Lightsey will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Doug Brown, Kelly Brown, Colby Brown, Lance Morrell, Lane Morrell, Michael Harrell, Bubba Workman and Brock Eaton. Born December 20, 1945 in Mitchell County she was the daughter of the late Cecil Henry and Mattie Vittie Collins Eaton. Mrs. Gilliard passed away Saturday, December 10, 2022 at her residence. She was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and worked with the Grady County School System for 30 years as a paraprofessional at Shiver, Eastside and Southside Schools. She was a graduate of the class of 1964 of Pelham High School. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Kermit Gilliard of Pelham. Other survivors include her son, Kermit Gilliard, Jr. (Cristie) of Cairo, a daughter-in-law, Kim Gilliard of Cairo, granddaughters, Anna Gilliard of Tallahassee, Lauren Gilliard of Valdosta, Erin Gilliard of Cairo, grandson, Owen Gilliard of Cairo, sisters, Cecile Brown of Baconton, Helen Morrell of Pelham, brother, Franklin Eaton of Arabi, sisters and brothers-in-law, Debra Harrell (WA), Dinah Collins (Bill) and Nancy Whitlow (Don). She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mattie Eaton; a son, Stan Gilliard, mother and father-in-law, Marion and Thelma Gilliard, brother, Charles Eaton, sister, Sharon Willis, brothers-in-law, Lannis Morrell, Etheridge Brown and Ken Gilliard.
