Norwood Thurmon Snipes

Funeral services for Norwood Thurmon Snipes, 83, of Pelham will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 2:00PM at Union Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Doug Hall will officiate and interment will be in Union Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Brinkley, Ken Harper, Jimmy Bynum, Ricky Snipes, Ken Snipes and Scott Johnson. Born August 10, 1936 in Camilla he was the son of the late William Norwood and Lela Pollock Snipes. Mr. Snipes passed away Sunday, September 1, 2019 at his residence. He was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church and a retired Carpenter. He was married for 50 years to Lillian Knight Snipes of Pelham who survives. Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Mike Snipes (Tamara) of Tifton; Steven Snipes (Alison) of Albany; grandchildren, Tanner Snipes (Danielle) ; Amelia Snipes and Colin Snipes all of Albany; Landon Snipes and Lindsey Snipes of Tifton; brothers and sisters, Robert Snipes (Georgia) of Camilla; Sue Brinkley of Cairo; Leanear Parlette of Camilla; Marvin Snipes (Judy) of Pelham; Junior Snipes (Sandra) of Sandersville; and Yvonne Smith of Powder Springs and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Tony Snipes; two brothers, Henry Snipes and W.H. Snipes (Patricia Adams Snipes); and three brothers-in-law, Roger Brinkley, Earl Smith and Reggie Parlette. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1:00-2:00PM.
