Funeral services for  Melanie Godwin Layton, 64, of Pelham will be held Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 3:00PM at Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Jimmy Smith will officiate and interment will be in Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Born November 15, 1956 in Pelham she was the daughter of the late T.J. and Remona Kolbie Godwin. She was married to the late John Franklin Layton who preceded her in after 31 years of Marriage in 2010. Mrs. Layton passed away Monday, November 30. 2020 at her residence. She was the owner of Mitchell County Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and a member of Mt Vernon Baptist Church. survivors include her son, Johnathan Todd Layton of Hinsonton, a daughter, Melia Layton Davis (Micky) of Pelham, Grandkids, John Hansel Davis and Josh Hudson Davis of Pelham, sister-in-law, Charlotte Godwin of Cairo; Aunt Carolyn Brooks of Pelham, Uncle Earl Godwin (Sonja) of Pelham, Niece Mariah Mathers (Clint) of Cairo, Nephews Chris Godwin (Lauren) of Pelham and Bert Godwin (Carrie) of Cairo and several great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Keith Ladon Godwin. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 from 6:00-8:00PM.
