Graveside services for Mary Cook Culbreth, 87, of Pelham will be held Tuesday, February 4, 2025 at 11:00AM at Pelham City Cemetery. Rev. Ed Green Will officiate. Born January 19, 1938 in Whigham she was the daughter of the late Bernice Gainous Royals and Daniel Stevens Royals. Mrs. Culbreth passed away Friday, January 31, 2025 at her residence. She was married to Ira Jackson Cook, Jr., until his death on May 12, 1996, and she later married Larkin G. (Tank) Culbreth, Jr. on July 12, 1997 of Pelham who survives. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham, Graduate of Pelham High School Class of 1955, Past President of the Chamber of Commerce, she also formally sat on the Boys and Girls Club Board, and the Mitchell County Children and youth, Rotary Club, Lioness Club, Thomas Technical College adult Literacy Committee, and Mitchell County Health Committee, and also was employed by the Pelham Housing authority from 1971 until she became the Executive Director in 1986. Survivors other than her husband include grandchildren, Brandi B. McGalliard (Kirk) of Pelham; Brooke B. Hawley (Chase) of Pelham; grandchildren, Morgan Romero (Jesse) of Pelham; Blaire Mc Galliard of Pelham and Jackson Cook Hawley of Pelham; and a sister-in-law, Linda Cook Johnson (Terry). She was preceded in death by her 1st husband, daughters, Lisa C. Fender and Leslie Danette Cook and a sister, Shirley R. Fielder. The public may visit on Monday from 8:00-5:00PM at the funeral home.
