Mary Louise (Adams) Hendrix, 86, of Pelham was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on May 30, 2017, peacefully, but unexpectedly, at her home with her loving husband of 67 years, Hiram at her side. Originally from Savanna, she followed her husband to Florida-Jacksonville, Boynton Beach, Vero Beach, Ft. Lauderdale, back to Vero and finally to Pelham, Ga., where they spent the last 27 years. Louise had many job titles: Secretary and Bank Proof operator, before becoming his partner as grocery store owners and hog and cattle ranchers in Vero Beach. In 1988, they moved their cattle and hogs to Pelham and added Ostriches for a short season. Together they built and operated a greenhouse enterprise and she eventually became the main baker/canner for the farmer’s market. But the title loved the best was wife and mother and grandmother. Though from humble beginnings, she and Hiram were able to do some traveling. They enjoyed a trip to Europe-visiting Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia and Spain. They created memories together with friends and family traveling the United States from their beloved spot in North Carolina, to New England, Alaska and the Southwest. There adventures included a cruise from Juneau to Seattle, and a drive from Washington State to Georgia. But now- she has begun her most exciting journey of all. Members of the First Baptist Church of Pelham, Louise and Hiram both taught Sunday School for many years. Louise would be the first to say she wasn’t perfect, but all who knew her were sure she was a rock-solid follower of her lord Jesus Christ. A kind, gentle spirited woman, she will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Louise was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Gus Humphries, sister-in-law, Jackie Adams, son-in-law, Russ Bowdre and beloved granddaughter Jessica Rhodes. She is survived by her husband, Hiram and four children, Rebecca Hendrix and Linda Bowdre of Pelham, Harvey Hendrix, Jr., of Camilla, and Jennifer and John Harvey of Los Angeles. Also surviving are two brothers; Joe and Kay Adams of Richmond, Ga., and James Adams of Swainsboro, Ga., 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Services will be held Sunday, June 4, 2017 at 2:00PM at First Baptist Church in Pelham. The Rev. Matt Peek will officiate and interment will be at the family home. The family will receive friend on Saturday, June 3, 2017 from 6-8pm at Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home. Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home, Pelham
