Lillian McClure

Funeral services for Lillian Irene Glenn McClure, 97, of Fortson will
be held Friday, August 22, 2014 at 3:00PM at Willis-Jamerson-Braswell
Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan MacMinn will officiate, and interment will follow
immediately afterwards in Pelham City Cemetery. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home on Friday from 1:30PM to 3:00PM. Mrs. McClure passed away August 19, 2014 at her home in Fortson. Born
November 22, 1916, in Cotton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late
James Eldridge Glenn and Mary Ella Barton, the 12th of 15 children. Mrs. McClure was married to the late Alvin Turner McClure. She is survived by her
two daughters and sons-in-law, Mary and Kenneth Clarke, of Clarkesville, and
Linda and Paul Phillips, of Villa Rica; by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark
and Sheree McClure of Fortson; and 13 grandchildren: Chris Clarke, Richard Clarke, Shawn Clarke, Wade Proudfoot, Devin Clarke,
Laura Moore, Amanda McClure, Bonnie McClure, Bethany McClure, Mark McClure
Jr., Melody McClure, Emily McClure, and Allison McClure. Other survivors
include great-grandchildren Susan Proudfoot, Lauren Proudfoot, John Robert
Moore, Mac Moore, Caroline Moore, Vincent Pirrung, and Vivian Pirrung. Other survivors include a very large and loving extended family of nieces
and nephews too numerous to list. She was preceded in death by her parents,
her husband, her siblings, and her first precious grandchild, Susan Irene
Proudfoot. She was a long term member of First Baptist Church, Pompano Beach, Florida,
where she was a Sunday School teacher, and a member of the Order of the
Eastern Star. Mrs. McClure was a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves, and was happy that
they won the night she passed. She was an inspiration and model of courage
to her family, loved deeply by all. Her sense of humor brightened the lives
of all who knew her. The family wishes to especially thank Dr. Ronald Hudson of Columbus Clinic.
His compassionate, sensitive care and special relationship with Mrs. McClure
directly extended both the span of her life and the quality of it. They
would also like to thank Columbus Hospice for their outstanding care, and
for providing the means for our dear mother to die at home in her favorite
chair, according to her wishes. Willis-Jamerson-Braswell Funeral Home
