James Weyman Swilley, Jr., 75, of Steinhatchee, Florida, passed away at Mitchell County Hospital on Saturday, December 14, 2024. Memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 3:00PM at Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home, Pelham, GA. Earl Perry of Hope Ministries will officiate. Born August 9, 1949, in Camilla, GA, he was the son of the late James Weyman Sr. and Lenora Jones Swilley. He was retired from a long career in law enforcement working with the Georgia Fire Marshal’s office and the Georgia Department of Revenue, Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Division. He was a member of the Georgia Peace Officer’s Association and a member of First Baptist Church of Pelham, GA. He is survived by his son, James Weyman (Tripp) Swilley, III (Tiffany), his daughter, Valerie Brooke Swilley Howell (Yancey), all of Pelham; his son Cameron Burch Swilley (Morgan) of Newton; grandchildren Savannah Swilley Griner (Josh) of Pelham; Zachary Terrell Howell and Alyssa Karsyn Howell both of Statesboro; James Wesley Swilley of Pelham; Crow Rex Swilley of Newton; one great grandchild, Annaleigh Griner of Pelham; sister Rose Ann McGlamery of Cobb; brother Charles Swilley (Debra) of Newton, AL; brother-in-law Tommy Stephens of Cobb; sister-in-law Becky Swilley Morrell (Steve); numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, and his loyal companion, Thunder. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Nora Swilley Stephens, brother William (Bill) Swilley, nephew Charles (Chuck) Swilley, and a brother-in-law Garry McGlamery.
