H.M. “Redd” Butler, age 73, of Meigs, GA passed away on March, 6, 2023 at his home.
A native of South Georgia, Redd was born on February 14, 1950 in the town of Camilla and graduated from Pelham High School in 1968. Redd was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1968-1974 as a Fire Fighter and Helicopter Pilot. After being awarded numerous citations and medals during active service, he retired from the U.S. Army Reserves. Redd spent several years working the cattle feed lots in Colorado and was a true cowboy at heart, rarely seen without his favorite straw hat or Cowboy boots on. He was a skilled horseman, billiard player, and wood craftsman. Redd enjoyed playing the lottery, riding his horse, and spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Tracie (Milton) Siguenza; Tamara (Samuel) Miller; Todd (Elizabeth) Butler; Robert (Kimberly) Butler; and Katie Jones; Grandchildren, Jade Birch, Alexa Siguenza, Alexander Siguenza, Hannah Miller, Ava Miller, Justin Craig, Jason Craig, Lauren Jones, Kaytlynn Jones, Wesley Franklin, Benjamin Butler; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lemuel Butler; mother, Marceline Yarborough; brother Michael Butler; and sister, Kathy English.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Meigs Baptist Church, 2014 Church Street, Meigs, GA 31765, (229) 683-3563. The family will receive friends prior to the service.
