Glenda Folsom

Glenda Long Folsom, 57, passed away at her home in Lakeland, Fla., on Dec. 4, 2020, surrounded by family after a long battle with breast cancer. She was the beloved wife of Scott Callaway Folsom and the proud mother of three daughters: Susannah, Caroline and Lucy. Her greatest love was family, and her children were proud to call her mom. In addition to her husband and daughters, Glenda is survived by her parents, Carl and Susan Milliron Long of Pelham, Ga., and two sisters, Teresa Long Pierce and Penny Long Harris. Born in Thomasville, Ga., Glenda moved to Pelham, Ga., at age 9. A graduate of Ravenwood Academy in Meigs, Ga., she attended Truett-McConnell College in Cleveland, Ga., where she played basketball and received an associate of arts degree. Glenda then attended Georgia College in Milledgeville, Ga., where she received a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. She completed her master’s degree in mathematical science from Clemson University in 1987. During a stellar nine-year career with BellSouth Corporation, from 1987 to 1996, Glenda achieved Director Executive level status with significant accomplishments and awards. Her greatest accomplishment, however, was when she became a mother and decided to give up her promising career to become a stay-at-home mom. Her greatest legacy is the three beautiful daughters she raised and nurtured in a loving home with a strong Christian faith. Over the last four years she was able to pursue her first love of mathematics and teaching as an Adjunct Professor of Mathematics at Seminole State College in Sanford, Fla., and Polk State College in Lakeland, Fla. In additional to her teaching skills, she was also a talented musician, athlete, gardener, chef, decorator and seamstress. Her greatest ministry gift was leading children’s choirs and kids’ worship programs at the churches she served. She also enjoyed serving her community in various leadership roles with non-profits such as Junior League and PTA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial gifts be sent to: Baptist Campus Ministries 1604 W.
