George Ball, 47, of Pelham passed away Monday, March 3, 2025 at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital after a long battle with cancer. Born in 1977, he split his childhood between northern Virginia and Tucker, Georgia. In 2010, he made Camilla, Georgia, his home to start and raise his family. George built a life that people gravitated towards; he had a way with words and a tall tale for every occasion. George's character shone through in his caring and generous nature. He was always ready to lend a hand or offer support to someone in need. Whether being a golf pro, working for Georgia Crown, or hunting with his Squeal Team Six buddies, George was someone people wanted to be around. He loved golf, movies, practical jokes, UGA football, traveling, a good steak, and most of all loved being Ellis's dad. He was always up for adventure - hunting pigs in the dark, wrangling wild horses in Puerto Rico, snorkeling in Hawaii, gambling, or attempting to learn to wake surf, when we all knew he was too old to be doing his knees like that.
George is survived by his son, Ellis Ball, his ex-wife, caretaker, and best friend, Polly Swilley, his mother and stepfather, Debra and William Timms, sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Mike Greentree, and their sons, Walker and M. J., a cousin he considered a brother, Walker Jones and his daughter Betty Jean, and his two spoiled pups, Divot and Karl. He was preceded in death by his father, George Ball, Jr.
