Franklin Russ

John Franklin Russ,Jr., 81, of Pelham passed away Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 2:00PM at Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home. Rev. Grant Hignight and Rev. Paul Shaw will officiate with interment to follow at Pinecrest Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be Rodney Bennett, Brett McDowell, Drew Russ, Noah Russ, Tucker Bruce, and Jayden Larkin.  Born June 11, 1943 in Pelham, he was the son of the late John Franklin, Sr., and Ocie Willis Russ. He was a member of Meigs Baptist Church and served as the preacher there until his retirement.  He also was a farmer for the majority of his life.  He was married to Janice Bentley Russ,who survives, for fifty-seven (57) years. Other survivors include two sons, Johnny Russ (Marie) of Pelham and Casey Russ (Dusty) of Meigs, one daughter, Trini McDowell (Mike) of Meigs; grandchildren Brett McDowell (Tiffany), Drew Russ (Amanda),Bryce Bruce (Tucker), Ivey Russ (Reagan), Noah Russ (Brianna), Ragan Russ (Jayden), Mikah Pafford-Russ; great grandchildren Eden Russ, Sage McDowell, Cypress Russ, Isla Russ, Paxton Bruce, and Collins Russ; sisters Jean Cox, Casondra Luke, and Wanda Sellars (Larry) all from Meigs. Mr. Russ was preceded in death by his parents, J. F. Russ Sr., and Ocie Willis Russ, brother-in-laws Turner L. Cox and Jimmy Luke.  The family will visit with family and friends on Friday, January 3,2025 from 6:30-8:00PM at Willis Jamerson Braswell Funeral Home.
