Donald Leroy Peterson

Funeral services for Donald Leroy Peterson, 84, of Pelham, will be held Thursday, December 15, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Union Grove Baptist Church with interment in Union Grove Cemetery.  Rev. Doug Hall will officiate. Mr. Peterson passed away at Grady General Hospital, Cairo, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. Born March 1, 1932 in Iowa City, Iowa, he was the son of Nona Lewis.  Mr. Peterson was a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Pelham.  He retired from working in security. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Burgess Peterson of Pelham; a daughter Gloria McCabe (Mike), grandsons Larry McCabe (Lori), Earl McCabe (Kelly), great grandsons Eli McCabe, Ethan McCabe, and Garrett McCabe, great
granddaughters Karly McCabe and Julianna McCabe, all of Thomasville; stepson Mike Bentley of Pelham, Dewain Bentley (Kathy) of Tennessee; stepdaughter Cindy Pollock of Pelham; step grandsons Cody Bentley of Maine, Dylan Bentley (Kim) of Tennessee, Phillip Pollock (Brooke) of Pelham, Josh Pollock (Amanda) of Pelham, step granddaughters Kendra
Bentley of Maine, Kandi Harden (David) of Pelham, great grandchildren Drew Harden, Kole Harden, Danyelle Pollock, MaKinley Pollock, Leighton Collins, Jace Bentley, Wyatt Graves, and Tucker Graves; foster daughters Jayne Johnson and Ann Marie. Mr. Peterson was preceded in death by his first wife of 42 years, Doris Peterson. Pallbearers will be Phillip Pollock, Josh Pollock, David Harden, Dylan Bentley, Drew Harden, and Kole Harden. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 14,  2016.
