Carlis Helman Cameron

Funeral services for Carlis Helman Cameron, 85, of Pelham will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 at 2:00PM at Long Branch Baptist Church in Cairo. Rev. Jeff Ezell and Rev. Zane Owens will officiate and interment will be in Mt. Olive Church Cemetery at a later date. Pallbearers will be Ben Cameron, Caleb Cameron, Matthew Combs, Kale Owens, Dylan Owens and Mickey Thomson. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Faircloth, Gene Williams, Tommy DeMott, Jerry Carroll and Roy Murphy. Born September 11, 1938 in Pelham, he was the son of the late Nathan Benjamin and Annie Laura Beck Cameron. Mr. Cameron passed away Monday, October 16, 2023 at Archbold Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and a retired machinist with Coats and Clarks Thread Mill in Pelham. He was married to Sallie Clark Cameron for 55 years who preceded him in death and Deborah Nelson Cameron of Pelham who survives for 8 years. Survivors other than his wife include two sons, Ricky Cameron (Kathy); Jerry Cameron (Julie) all of Pelham; grandsons, Ben Cameron (Gabby) of Midway; Caleb Cameron (Jessica) of Athens; granddaughter, Macy Combs ( Matthew) of Bainbridge and great granddaughter, Rorie Pritchard. He was preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife, a sister, Laverne West and a brother Doug Cameron. The family will receive friends at the church on Friday from 1:00-2:00PM.    In lieu of flowers donations may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
