Funeral services for Bobby James Layton, 81, of Meigs will be held Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 11:00AM at Midway Baptist Church in Meigs where he was a member. The Rev. Nathan Fowler, Sonny Nixon and Craig Layton will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric Layton, Grant Carney, Lane Morrell, Jeremy Layton, Heath Layton and Phillip Cooper. Honorary pallbearers will be Midway Baptist Church Deacons. Born January 17, 1937 in Grady County he was the son of the late Woodrow Washington and Deloris Inez Hutto Layton. Mr. Layton passed away Saturday, September 8, 2018 at his residence. He was a retired Farmer. Mr. Layton was married to Shelby Jean Harvey Layton of Meigs who survives for 62 years. Other survivors include sons, Brent (Serease) Layton, John Layton, and Scott Layton all of Meigs. daughter, Connie Layton Muggridge ( Bill) of Pelham; grandchildren, Eric Layton (Leslie) of Meigs; Jennifer L. Morrell (Lane) of Pelham; Jackie L. Carney (Grant) of Pavo; Courtney Taylor of Valdosta; MaKayla Taylor of Pavo; Heath Layton of Meigs, Jeremy Layton (Leisure) of Meigs; and Ashley Layton Cooper (Phillip); and Great Grandchildren, Ashlan Layton, Emma Layton, Layton Morrell, Maddox Carney, Molly Grace Carney, Lane Conger, Langley Layton and Brantley Layton and one sister, Jean L. Cooper of Meigs. Mr. Layton was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Walden Layton Harvey.
