Billy Junior Liles passed away July 16, 2024, at the age of 87 at Northside Gwinnett Hospital in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Mr. Liles was born February 1, 1937, in Ellijay, GA, to Rev. Coley and Bernice Liles. He graduated from Gilmer County High School and earned an associate’s degree in Highway Engineering from Southern Tech. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He retired after 30 years’ service from the Georgia DOT as a Contract Specialist. He helped build roads and bridges around the Atlanta area. He also retired from Dobbins Air National Guard after 30 years’ service as a Chief Master Sergeant. During his time in the service, he was a flight engineer delivering cargo to the Military Bases all over the world. He flew to Vietnam several times during the war. Billy was a lifetime member of the Harley Ownership Group and attended many rallies. He enjoyed his motorcycles, the Braves, NASCAR, fishing and blue grass music but most importantly he loved his family. He cherished the times spent with his grandchildren over the summers and holidays. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Evelyn Palmer Liles, daughter Davilyn (Steve) Burns, Granddaughter Brittany Burns (Kyle) Miller, Grandson Steve Preston (Meg) Burns, Jr, two Great Granddaughters, Palmer A and Maive D Miller and Great Grandson Ezra F Burns. He also leaves behind loving nieces Pat, Connie, Beth, Pam, Michele and Sharla, nephews Andy and Drew as well as many great nieces and nephews. Graveside service will be held at the Mizpah Primitive Baptist Church, Pelham GA on August 10, 2024, at 11:00 am.In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mizpah Primitive Baptist Cemetery Fund c/o Earl Godwin, 419 Godwin Lane, Pelham Ga 31779.
