Betty Owen

Funeral services for Betty Aldredge Owen, 77, of Pelham will be held Saturday, January 25, 2025 at 2:00PM at Meigs Baptist Church. Rev. James Miller will officiate and interment will be in Meigs Sunset Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Shawn Wiggins, Skyler Wiggins, Jacob Owen and Ismael Murshed. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Meigs Baptist Church and VFW.  Born September 12, 1947 in Pelham she was the daughter of the late John Leon and Iris Grace Hudson Aldredge. Mrs. Owen passed away Saturday, January 17, 2025 at her home. She married Larry Owen on August 4, 1966 and they made beautiful friends from many walks of life during their marriage. In 2004, they returned to her farm on the same old dirt road. They have three children, four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Betty had the heart of a servant, whether it was serving at her church with the children’s ministries, women's missionary union, or her veteran's organizations of the VFW and DAV. She worked in the home, keeping it a happy and loving place for her family. Later in life, she worked as a librarian assistant, which brought her great joy. Betty will always be remembered for her bubbly nature and infectious laugh. She loved her family and friends deeply. Betty was a lover of music and books. She loved talking to anyone she met as she has never know a stranger. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Larry Owen of Pelham; children, Kim Wiggins (Shawn) of Columbus; Allen Owen of Pelham; Jon Owen (Lucy) of Virginia Beach, VA; grandchildren, Darby Boggs (Evan) of Rincon; Ismael Murshed of Virginia Beach, VA; Skyler Wiggins (Sydney) of Smiths Station, AL; Jacob Owen (Abby) of Red Oak, TX; great grandchildren, Ximaya Murshed of Greenville, TX; and Kolter and Ellis Boggs of Rincon. The family will receive friends at Meigs Baptist Church on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 1:00-2:00PM.  Contributions may be made to Meigs Baptist Church or Georgia Baptist Children's Home, P. O.
