Albert "Rabbit" Welch, 89, of Pelham, GA passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2013 at Calhoun Nursing Home in Edison, GA. Born on May 22, 1924 in Pelham, GA to the late William Jefferson and Sallie Mae Scott Welch, he was a retired truck driver and Baptist by faith. He is survived by his daughter Betty Smith and husband, Scott, of Albany, GA, granddaughters Lauren Smith Popp and husband, Blake, of Fruitland, MO, Julie Smith Mabry and husband, Mac, of Vaiden, MS, Tori Smith and friend Otto Davis, and Tessa Smith, all of Cape Girardeau, MO, great grandchildren London Popp, Syndey Popp, Kaleb Popp, all of Fruitland, MO and Molly Mabry of Vaiden, MS, sister Neva Welch Gregory of Pelham, GA. He was preceded in death by his wife Helen Welch, son Robert Welch, brothers Felton Welch, Alton Welch, Roy Welch, sisters Mattie Mae Golden and Kathleen Welch. Visitation was held on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 from 5 until 8 p.m. at Jamerson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Rev. Lynn Roberts will officiate the services. Pallbearers will be Blake Popp, Mac Mabry, Otto Davis, Chuck McNeil, Bill Welch, and Jeff Thornton. Interment will be held in Pinecrest Memory Gardens.
